went to bed around ten, phone woke me up around midnight, and after that, no sleep. tired, but unable to sleep, doodled a bit in bed. i'll be travelling today, back to the city. hopefully i'll keep posting on a daily basis. anyway, here's a few things drawn around 4-5 am (mud mud mud!)

almost ten years ago
found these while sorting the crud i have here. 1997, probably the first sequential stuff i did (i was 11). did it with a fountain pen, straight. i remember just sitting in front of a paper, trying to come up with any jokes at all. some more old stuff surfaced, since i'm trying to get all the drawings of mine on one big pile. when people ask me when did i start to draw, i usually say 'in high school', but stuff like this reminds me that i've always drawn here and there, i guess.

look at that signature!

mud

this thing's a sin when it comes to readability, and i did it way too small (about 5 inches in diameter maybe), at around 5 am. but heck, i like it for some reason. here's a closeup:

rakugaki
forgot to post yesterday! a book by tatsuya kerada (the guy who did blood, the last vampire) - "rakugaking", arrived, and i was mesmerized by it. a thousand pages of sketches and doodles! and all interesting, fun, well drawn. and the book itself is really a piece of art, with a nice carboard box. yum!
since i forgot to post, i'll try to post twice today. first things first:
then a couple sketches from bed last night-

and a wee sketch with the new brushpen. i love it since it's hard to control and doesn't let me get anal with the lines:
i also read seth fisher's ( link ) five part batman story, "snow", last night. in case you never saw anything by seth, go look it up. i must admit that before his untimely death few months back, i didn't see much of his stuff either. but since then i read everything i could find (vertigo pop: tokyo!, fantastic four & iron man: big in japan, doom patrol #13-14, etc.), and it was all very good and i'm a big fan now. there's not much of it, but whatever you find, it'll be better than most of the stuff around.

crank
right now i feel like the crankiest man alive. got up at 4 in the morning today, couldn't continue sleeping even though i was damn tired. and whole day just tired and cranky, yet somehow i did more work than in the past three days together. first thing in the morning - inked some pages i had laying around unfinished. then did thumbnails, worked out a sequence for a comic, four pages figured out (it's one of those where i go from rought story to thumbs and write during and after that step). doodled. replied to all the mails. took a shower. and by then it was around noon. arg.
my little brother's b-day is the day after tomorrow (he's turning six), so i got the usual duty to draw the invitation cards. since i have two kid sisters as well, i do this three times a year and i've drawn my fair share of blue bears, turtles, etc. i inked most of this thing with a brush, think they'll notice?
here's how it looks in color-
all that aside, while drawing this i realized it's most likely the first time i ever drew a ninja turtle. actually i'm quite sure, and it's a bit surprising since i was a huge fan as a kid (who wasn't?)

small watercolor landscapes are one of the few things that always relax me. no expectations, no bitching, just a nice experiment with usually rather abstract shapes and colors. these i did today- still trying out things via trial & error mostly, but having much fun. the black and white one is the view from my room window, here at home, and it's something i sketch or paint at least once a year, no expectations, just good fun! i'm posting closeups too- these are the parts i usually enjoy, where the medium does it's magic.

p.s. i fixed the blog layout a bit, but the damn internet explorer is still acting stupid. if you run into any problems or wildly oversized text, let me know.

radical adults
phwah!
been ages since i updated, and can't say i've drawn all that much in the meantime. the scuba-diving comic still needs to be colored, and me leaving my tablet stylus in a flat 650 km away doesn't help much. so that's going ridiculously slow. got about a dozen of other things in the writing, some for myself, some for my friends, stories for a fanzine i edit (i guess), PIPCI! (eng.: TENTACLES!). so anyway, i just finished writing a 12 page story for my friend jusuf. wrote a short story for myself (4 pages), and about half of another one (3 pages). Also wrote rough drafts for the next episode of my detective guy comic, some 10-12-ish pages too, and the outlines for the whole next issue of the fanzine. how did i end up writing that much? beats me.
so yeah, there's a couple of stories that i'll be messing with over the next few days, including the one i planned to put here as a webcomic. going back to the big city in two weeks, so till then i'll try to post something every day, and maybe figure out a way to post when i get there too. cheers.
oh, and i need to fix that header thing. works in ie, but looks nasty in mozilla.
today, fanart of mister macak, and a some doodles from the papers i have on the desk during the day...

...and none of the comics are finished yet, but here's a spread i forgot to post. the page on the left i already posted before, but the one on the right is new (and not even colored properly =) but not much left on this one, maybe a couple of days...
